2022 Impact Report highlights over 850k meals served, 1393 scholarships saved children from hazardous child labor or trafficking

Today we are happy to reflect on this past year and share with you what we’ve achieved together— 2022 has been a year of renewal and hope combined with several challenges as well.

We are grateful that our Founder & Executive Director, Kirby Trapolino, was finally able to return to many of our program sites to reunite with our overseas families, enabling him to bring you first-hand reports on our progress.

What follows is our 2022 Year-End Impact Report. We are sure you’ll agree it’s nothing short of a miracle what you’ve helped us accomplish this year at Peace Gospel and She Has Hope.

We are so thankful for you and for God’s grace which has sustained our field staff, volunteers, and the more than 1300 women and children who depend on our programs for their security, rehabilitation, nutrition, and education.

FUNDING. Year-to-date, over $750,000 has been raised in support of orphans, trafficking survivors and child labor victims at 21 project locations.

MEALS. Over 850,000 fresh meals (about 2,300/day) were served to children and staff in need thanks to your generosity and the multiplying effect of our farms and gardens.

ORPHAN CARE. 278 orphans were provided a loving home environment, education, and nutrition consistently throughout the year. We happily opened our newest girls home… in rural Uganda!

DISASTER RESPONSE. We were able to help our Cebu, Philippines team recover from the direct hit of Typhoon Odette as they began the year in a state of recovery. We delivered hundreds of gallons of drinking water along with over one ton of dry foods and cooking supplies for our neighbors. Several medical emergencies for children in our programs were covered thanks to your generous support of our 2021 year-end campaign.

MULTIPLICATION. Your “seed” funding was multiplied to produce over 10 tons of food on our farmlands, fisheries, and hen houses, providing operating income and fresh ingredients for our children’s meals.

GIRL GRADUATES. In our She Has Hope human trafficking response programs, 28 girls received their high school diplomas, 6 received college or trade school diplomas, and 2 were commissioned into small business ownership!

EDUCATION. As schools finally got back on track after the pandemic, 1,393 scholarships saved children from hazardous child labor or trafficking at our 7 Hope Centers and 4 schools.

IMPROVEMENTS. We are nearing completion on our expanded and renovated Philippines girls home, our Myanmar orphan home was fully completed and occupied (see below) along with a security wall now underway, a new dorm was completed at our Uganda boarding high school, and a new well was installed in one of our rural Uganda communities.

SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISERS. Our annual gala, “A Taste of Hope” was 100% underwritten and raised over $67,000 for our programs in one night. Our Executive Director’s 24 Hour Photo Project in India raised over $12,000 along with awareness among tens of thousands who saw the photos.

TRAFFICKING RESPONSE. We saw many victories in our human trafficking response programs such as 15 new rescues along with a new rehabilitation home and trade school in Nepal, Cebu program improvements allowing us to pay our artisans 5x the going wholesale rate for their goods, and hundreds of girls across all of our program locations being trained in trafficking avoidance workshops.

3 MAJOR AWARDS. For the 12th year in a row, we have been awarded Platinum level status (the highest level) with GuideStar Exchange, the premier source for nonprofit information and transparency, we received a 95% rating with Charity Navigator giving us their (highest) 4-star rating, and were rated as a 5-star charity at Great Non-Profits.

2022 YEAR-END CAMPAIGN. Our year-end goal will expand and repair our rural Uganda primary school and the girls home it supports.

Here’s the artist’s visualization of the proposed expansion of our rural Uganda primary school.

And in more good news, we are happy to remind you that we have a matching challenge in place!

Donations received toward our year-end campaign before midnight, December 31 will be doubled up to $115,000— resulting in a full $230,000 reach of our goal if the matching is fully used!

If you have not yet done so, please consider making a donation of any amount to help us get closer to this urgent goal and see your gift doubled!

We are so thankful for your friendship and support in 2022— we truly could not have done this without you.
